“The Homecoming: A Christmas Story”

From Wendy G – Mr. Pop – My favorite show as a child was “The Waltons.” Didn’t this come from another television show?

Mr. Pop History – The creator of The Waltons, Earl Hamner Jr. also wrote and produced “The Homecoming: A Christmas Story” featuring many of the actors who would appeared in “The Waltons” the following year. Yes, “The Waltons” was based on this holiday TV classic.

“The Homecoming” was first broadcast in December of 1971 and was a seasonal favorite for many years. “The Waltons” began in September of 1972.

Come back soon, as I answer, to the best of my knowledge, another one of your pop history/culture questions.
